CVE-2026-45258  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-125  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade freebsd to version 14.3.0-p15, 14.4.0-p6, 15.0.0-p10, 15.1-RC3-p1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Read in the dsp_mmap_single process. An attacker can read and write arbitrary kernel memory by supplying crafted offset and length values that cause integer overflow, allowing access beyond the intended audio buffer. This can be used to escalate privileges or crash the kernel, resulting in system compromise or denial of service. This is only exploitable if the system has an audio device and the /dev/dsp device nodes are world-accessible by default.
