CVE-2024-2698  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-284  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade freeipa to version 4.11.2, 4.12.1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Access Control due to improper validation in the check_allowed_to_delegate function. An attacker can impersonate any user to access another target service by exploiting the lack of condition for granting the "forwardable" flag on S4U2Self tickets.

Notes:

1)This vulnerability does not affect default FreeIPA deployments because the services which have delegation rules defined are on IPA servers themselves.

  1. Services having RBCD (resource-based constrained delegation) rules are not affected by this vulnerability either.
