CWE-121  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade freeipmi to version 1.6.18 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Stack-based Buffer Overflow via the ipmi-oem client when processing specially crafted response messages from a remote source. An attacker can cause system unavailability by sending malicious messages to the client during active use with specific OEM subcommands. This is only exploitable if the ipmi-oem command is actively used to communicate with a malicious or compromised IPMI server.
