NewCVE-2025-48385  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-88  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade git/git to version 2.43.7, 2.44.4, 2.45.4, 2.46.4, 2.47.3, 2.48.2, 2.49.1, 2.50.1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Arbitrary Argument Injection via insufficient validation of the bundle-uri parameter during the clone process. An attacker can cause arbitrary files to be written to locations controlled by the adversary, potentially leading to code execution, by injecting malicious protocol data from a remote server.

Note:

This is only exploitable if the bundle URI feature is enabled and, in some cases, if the adversary controls the clone destination or recursive submodules are used.
