CVE-2023-6779  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-122  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade glibc to version 2.39 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Heap-based Buffer Overflow due to an off-by-one error in the __vsyslog_internal function, which is also used by the syslog and vsyslog functions. An attacker can cause an application crash by providing a message that exceeds INT_MAX bytes, leading to a miscalculation of the buffer size needed to store the message.
