CWE-497  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

A fix was pushed into the master branch but not yet published.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Exposure of Sensitive System Information to an Unauthorized Control Sphere in systems utilizing LUKS-encrypted disks with GRUB configured for TPM-based auto-decryption. An attacker can access unencrypted data and compromise data confidentiality by corrupting the filesystem's superblock to force GRUB into rescue mode where the decryption key remains in system memory.

Note: This is only exploitable if the attacker has physical access to the system.
