CVE-2024-31220  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-22  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade LizardByte/Sunshine to version 0.18.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Path Traversal due to a path traversal vulnerability. An attacker may be able to remotely read arbitrary files without authentication by making an http/s request to the node_modules endpoint if the user has exposed the Sunshine configuration web server to the internet or if the attacker is on the same LAN. This is only exploitable if users have exposed the Sunshine configuration web user interface outside of localhost, depending on firewall configuration.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by blocking access to Sunshine via firewall.
