How to fix?

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to NULL Pointer Dereference in the xmalloc, xrealloc, and xstrdup functions due to the removal of out-of-memory guards when compiled with the -DNDEBUG flag. An attacker can cause the authentication process to crash by inducing memory allocation failures during authentication, resulting in a denial of service for all users attempting to authenticate.
