CVE-2025-12893  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-295  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade mongodb to version 7.0.26-rc0, 8.0.16-rc0, 8.2.2-rc0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Certificate Validation due to incorrect enforcement of Extended Key Usage (EKU) requirements during TLS handshakes. An attacker can exploit this behavior by using improperly constrained certificates to establish trusted TLS connections, weakening authentication guarantees and potentially enabling unauthorized access or man-in-the-middle scenarios.

Note: This is only exploitable on Windows and MacOS systems.
