CWE-863  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade mongodb to version 8.0.28, 8.3.7 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incorrect Authorization via the PROXY protocol v2 on the Unix domain socket path, where roles derived from X.509 client certificates are not validated against the configured allow-list. An attacker can gain unintended role assignments by connecting locally to the proxy Unix domain socket with a valid X.509 certificate issued by a trusted certificate authority. This is only exploitable if the attacker has local access to the proxy Unix domain socket and possesses a valid X.509 certificate issued by a trusted certificate authority.
