CWE-269  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade mysql to version 8.4.13, 9.7.4, 26.10.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Privilege Management via improper privilege enforcement in the Privileges component. An attacker can gain unauthorized access to sensitive data and modify or delete database records by exploiting insufficient access controls over network protocols. This is only exploitable if the database server is explicitly configured for remote access or replication clustering, or if network traffic to replication endpoints is not restricted.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by restricting network reachability to the database server so that only trusted hosts and application tiers can establish connections. Use firewall rules to limit incoming traffic to authorized IP addresses, or bind the database daemon to the local loopback interface if remote connections are not required.
