Overview
Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Command Injection in the dhclient backend when processing malformed MUD URLs. An attacker can gain elevated privileges by supplying a crafted MUD URL that triggers unintended script execution. This is only exploitable if the system is explicitly configured to use dhclient as the DHCP client instead of the default internal client.
Workaround
This vulnerability can be mitigated by ensuring the configuration does not specify dhclient as the DHCP backend. Remove or comment out the line [main] dhcp=dhclient in any custom configuration files and restart the NetworkManager service.
