CWE-121  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade neutrinolabs/xrdp to version 0.10.5 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Stack-based Buffer Overflow via improper bounds checking of the domain string during the connection sequence. An attacker can achieve remote code execution by sending a specially crafted domain value that causes a stack buffer overwrite and manipulation of the return address.

Note: This is only exploitable if the executable is not built with stack canary protection, or if an attacker can also leak the stack canary value.
