CWE-273  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade neutrinolabs/xrdp to version 0.10.6 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Check for Dropped Privileges due to improper error handling in the sesexec process during privilege drop. An attacker can gain elevated privileges and execute arbitrary code as root by exploiting a fail-open condition if setuid fails. This is only exploitable if an attacker is already authenticated locally and can trigger the session execution component, and an additional exploit is required to facilitate code execution.
