CWE-122  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade neutrinolabs/xrdp to version 0.10.6 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Heap-based Buffer Overflow in the xrdp_sec_process_logon_info process when handling user authentication with a custom domain_user_separator configured in xrdp.ini. An attacker can corrupt adjacent memory regions and potentially cause a denial of service or unexpected behavior by sending a crafted, excessively long username and domain name. This is only exploitable if the domain_user_separator option is explicitly set in the configuration.
