CWE-125  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade neutrinolabs/xrdp to version 0.9.23.1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Read in the xrdp_painter.c component, an attacker can access font glyphs without bounds-checking. This can lead to an out-of-bounds read within the executable, potentially leading to an out-of-bounds write. This vulnerability can be exploited by a user to read data within a potentially privileged process. This is particularly concerning on non-Debian platforms where xrdp often runs as root. However, there is no denial-of-service impact if xrdp is running in forking mode.
