Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Reachable Assertion. in the URL processing logic. When url.format() parses a malformed Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) containing invalid characters, it triggers a reachable assertion failure in the native node_url.cc code. An unauthenticated attacker could instantly crash the Node.js process by supplying a specially crafted, malformed IDN URL to a vulnerable application that subsequently processes it with url.format().
