CVE-2025-67269  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-191  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade ntpsec/gpsd to version 3.27.1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Integer Underflow (Wrap or Wraparound) via the NAVCOM packet parsing process. An attacker can cause the service to excessively consume CPU and become unresponsive by sending a specially crafted NAVCOM packet that causes an unsigned integer to be used during packet length calculation, leading to a non-terminating read state.

Note: This vulnerability can be exploited both over the network if gpsd is listening on a network port, or locally if the attacker has access to a serial device fed into gpsd.
