CWE-787  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade openssl to version 1.1.1zi, 3.0.22, 3.4.7, 3.5.8, 3.6.4, 4.0.2 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Write due to buffer sizing in cms_kek_cipher() in crypto/cms/cms_kari.c and crypto/cms/cms_kemri.c. An attacker can corrupt the heap and trigger a denial of service by supplying a crafted CMS message that is decrypted with CMS_decrypt() and causes the AES-WRAP-PAD unwrap path to write past the allocated output buffer.
