CWE-121  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade openwrt to version 24.10.6, 25.12.1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Stack-based Buffer Overflow via the match_ipv6_addresses function. An attacker can execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service by sending a specially crafted PTR query for IPv6 reverse DNS domains (.ip6.arpa) via multicast DNS on UDP port 5353, which results in an out-of-bounds write to a stack buffer due to improper validation of input length.
