Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Symlink Attack via the print_screen_contents_into_file function, which opens a predictable file path in /tmp without checking for symlinks or using O_NOFOLLOW. An attacker can overwrite arbitrary files as the process user by creating a symlink at the expected file location. The issue is exacerbated by incorrect permission handling and a world-writable umask during daemonization.
