NewCVE-2025-43718  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-674  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade poppler to version 25.04.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Uncontrolled Recursion in the pdfConformanceFromString() function. Processing of deeply nested structures within PDF metadata, specifically in the Dict::lookup and Catalog::getMetadata functions, which leads to deep recursion in the regex executor. An attacker can cause stack exhaustion and application crash by supplying a crafted PDF document containing excessively nested metadata fields.
