Introduced: 14 Nov 2024

CVE-2024-10977  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-348  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade postgresql to version 12.21, 13.17, 14.4, 15.9, 16.5, 17.1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Use of Less Trusted Source due to improper error message handling in the Client component. In scenarios where PostgreSQL clients utilize server error messages, a server not trusted under current SSL or GSS settings can send arbitrary non-NUL bytes to the libpq application

Note: This is probably not a concern for clients where the user interface unambiguously indicates the boundary between one error message and other text
