CWE-476  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade riot-os/riot to version 2025.10 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to NULL Pointer Dereference in the IPv6 fragmentation reassembly implementation - gnrc_ipv6_ext_frag_reass function, when processing a fragmented IPv6 packet with a fragment offset of 0 and an empty payload. An attacker can cause the operating system to crash by sending specially crafted IPv6 packets. This is only exploitable if the gnrc_ipv6_ext_frag module is enabled and the attacker can send arbitrary IPv6 packets to the target device.
