CWE-476  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

A fix was pushed into the master branch but not yet published.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to NULL Pointer Dereference due to the method bmp_load(). When the size information in the metadata of the bmp is out of range, it returns without assigning memory buffer to pb->pdata and doesn't exit the program, therefore the program crashes when it tries to access the pb->data, in jfif_encode() at jfif.c.
