CWE-121  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

There is no fixed version for rpcbind.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Stack-based Buffer Overflow in the rpcbdump process when handling version-list formatting in short mode. An attacker can cause a crash or denial of service for the client process by convincing a user or administrator to execute rpcinfo -s against a malicious or compromised endpoint.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by avoiding the use of the rpcinfo -s command against untrusted, attacker-controlled, or compromised hosts, and restricting the use of the utility to trusted internal endpoints or secure test environments only.
