CVE-2021-3521  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-287  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade rpm-software-management/rpm to version 4.18.0-alpha1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Authentication in rpmio/rpmpgp.c. The binding signature of subkeys is not checked prior to importing them. A user who adds a malicious subkey to a legitimate public key can cause the application to wrongly trust a malicious signature, and improperly modify data.

NOTE: To exploit this flaw, an attacker must either compromise an RPM repository or convince an administrator to install an untrusted RPM or public key.
