CVE-2026-56113  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-416  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade rsmarples/dhcpcd to version 10.5.0 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Use After Free via the dhcp6_deprecateaddrs process when handling a crafted DHCPv6 RENEW reply containing RFC6603 OPTION_PD_EXCLUDE with both preferred and valid lifetimes set to zero. An attacker can cause the daemon to crash by sending such a reply from the same network link, exploiting the freed memory pointer during address deprecation.
