Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Incorrect Type Conversion or Cast through the name-converter process. An attacker can cause transferred files to be owned by root by manipulating responses from the name-converter to return empty values for uid or gid lookups, which are incorrectly interpreted as root (uid/gid 0) when fake super-user status is also signaled.
