CWE-552  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade rsync to version 3.2.5pre1 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Unauthorized File Write in the do_server_recv() function, which doesn't adequately ensure that the sender of a received file has permission to write to the target directory on the client. An attacker in a man-in-the-middle position can write arbitrary files to the rsync client directory and its subdirectories.
