Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Time-of-check Time-of-use (TOCTOU) Race Condition due to the CheckPid()
function. This function later sends a signal to the Kill()
function, allowing an attacker to change PIU during the signal sending process to target a different, privileged process or trick the daemon into sending signals to itself.
Note:
Currently the CheckPid() function is only allowed to send SIGCONT
and SIGHUP
signals, making the likely impact to be limited to a local DoS or a minor integrity violation.
