CWE-826  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade squid to version 7.5 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Premature Release of Resource During Expected Lifetime in the icp_port process. An attacker can cause the service to crash or become unavailable by sending specially crafted ICP traffic. This is only exploitable if ICP support is explicitly enabled by configuring a non-zero icp_port in the configuration file.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by ensuring that ICP support is not explicitly enabled in the configuration. Set icp_port to 0 or comment out the icp_port directive, then reload or restart the service.
