CWE-121  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade suricata to version 7.0.13, 8.0.2 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Stack-based Buffer Overflow due to handling large HTTP file transfers and the HTTP response body limit has been increased. An attacker can cause a denial of service by sending specially crafted large HTTP responses that trigger a stack overflow.

Note: This is only exploitable if the HTTP response body limit is increased and http-body-printable logging is enabled.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by using default HTTP response body limits and/or disabling http-body-printable logging.
