Upgrade suricata to version 7.0.14, 8.0.3 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Use After Free via the alert queue expansion process. An attacker can achieve remote code execution or cause a denial of service by generating excessive alerts for a single packet, leading to a heap use-after-free condition.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by not running untrusted rulesets or by ensuring fewer than 65536 signatures can match on the same packet.
