CWE-330  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade suricata to version 7.0.7 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Insecure Randomness due to the missing initialization of the random seed for thash. An attacker can cause the dataset file to take excessive time to load and create runtime performance issues during traffic handling by exploiting predictable hash table behavior.

Workaround

This vulnerability can be mitigated by avoiding loading datasets from untrusted sources and avoiding dataset rules that track traffic in rules.
