Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Externally Controlled Reference to a Resource in Another Sphere through the handling of news: and snews: links referencing message-IDs. An attacker can cause the application to connect to arbitrary hosts and ports, potentially sending unmodified line breaks and crafted commands to internal services accessible from the user's network by enticing a user to click a specially crafted link. In addition, connections to certain servers may occur without TLS encryption.
