CVE-2021-47641  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-369  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 4.9.311, 4.14.276, 4.19.238, 5.4.189, 5.10.110, 5.15.33, 5.16.19, 5.17.2 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Divide By Zero in the cirrusfb_check_var function due to improper validation of the pixclock parameter. An attacker can cause a kernel crash or denial of service by supplying a zero value for pixclock via crafted ioctl calls to the framebuffer device.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
