CWE-843  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 4.19.307, 5.4.269, 5.10.210, 5.15.149, 6.1.78, 6.6.17, 6.7.5 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Access of Resource Using Incompatible Type ('Type Confusion') through improper handling in the tipc_nl_bearer_add process. An attacker can cause kernel memory disclosure, modify kernel memory, or crash the system by sending a crafted netlink message to trigger type confusion in the kernel.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
