CWE-119  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.1.91, 6.6.31, 6.8.10 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Buffer Overflow in the vmbus_gpadl process. An attacker can gain unauthorized access to confidential memory and potentially modify or corrupt guest memory by manipulating the memory encryption status during the establishment or teardown of guest physical address descriptor lists (GPADLs) in a confidential virtual machine environment. This allows the untrusted host to access or alter memory that should remain private to the guest, leading to exposure of sensitive data and possible system compromise.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
