CWE-476  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.4.293, 5.10.237, 5.15.181, 6.1.135, 6.6.88, 6.12.25, 6.14.4 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to NULL Pointer Dereference in the ec_i2c_probe function. An attacker can cause a system crash or denial of service by triggering a situation where the parent EC device is not present, such as by unbinding the controller driver and then loading the i2c-cros-ec-tunnel module.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
