CVE-2025-39964  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-362  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.10.245, 5.15.194, 6.1.154, 6.6.108, 6.12.49, 6.16.9 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition') through concurrent access to the af_alg_sendmsg process. An attacker can achieve arbitrary kernel memory disclosure, controlled kernel memory writes, privilege escalation, and system crashes by issuing multiple simultaneous writes to the same AF_ALG socket, causing unpredictable data interleaving and inconsistencies in internal socket state.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
