CWE-125  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.12.53, 6.17.3 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Read in the pgtable_walk_level function. An attacker can cause disclosure of arbitrary kernel physical memory and trigger a denial of service by reading from a debugfs file associated with Intel IOMMU domain translation structures when the system is in legacy mode and certain page table conditions are met. This can result in leaking sensitive kernel data to userspace and potentially crashing the system due to a general protection fault, especially if the kernel is configured with CONFIG_INTEL_IOMMU_DEBUGFS and debugfs is mounted and accessible.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
