CWE-125  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.10.253, 5.15.203, 6.1.169, 6.6.130, 6.12.77, 6.18.18, 6.19.8 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-Bounds in the match_char macro when traversing differential encoding chains in AppArmor's DFA matching process. An attacker can cause unauthorized access to files or crash the kernel by performing file operations that trigger the flawed evaluation, leading to out-of-bounds reads in kernel memory.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
