CWE-416  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.12.114, 6.18.36, 7.0.13 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Use After Free in the walk_s1 and kvm_walk_nested_s2 processes due to missing acquisition of the kvm->srcu lock during page table walks in certain fault injection and address translation emulation scenarios. An attacker can cause host kernel memory corruption, information disclosure, or denial of service by racing memslot updates with guest-triggered page table walks through local access to KVM device interfaces.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
