CWE-125  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.10.258, 5.15.209, 6.1.175, 6.6.141, 6.12.91, 6.18.33, 7.0.10 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-bounds Read in the processing of netlink attributes in the RDMA/iWARP port-mapper subsystem. An attacker can cause out-of-bounds kernel memory reads and potential memory disclosure by sending crafted netlink messages with non-NUL-terminated strings to the kernel. This can lead to kernel information leakage, hijacking of port-mapping operations, and possible denial of service through kernel faults.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
