CVE-2026-64162  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-667  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.18.34, 7.0.11 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Locking in the initialization process of the PTP (Precision Time Protocol) subsystem, specifically when scheduling the PTP auxiliary worker, which may access the read_dev_clk_lock before it has been properly initialized. An attacker can cause information disclosure, corruption of device clock state, or denial of service by remotely triggering a hardware reset via crafted or sustained network traffic to a system using the affected network driver, leading to unsynchronized access to shared kernel resources.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
