CWE-125  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.18.39, 7.1.4 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Out-of-Bounds in the sriov_restore_vf_rebar_state process. An attacker can cause a host kernel panic or service loss by triggering a device state where configuration reads return error responses, leading to an out-of-bounds access in the barsz array during PCI state restoration. This is only exploitable if a device becomes PCI-inaccessible, such as during a failed power state transition, causing configuration reads to return error values.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
