CWE-119  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 5.10.265, 5.15.216, 6.1.183, 6.6.148, 6.12.101, 6.18.42, 7.1.6 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer in the ivrs_acpihid command-line parser due to improper bounds checking of the early_acpihid_map array. An attacker can cause memory corruption or potentially execute arbitrary code by supplying more than four entries to the parser.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
