CVE-2026-74600  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-120  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 6.18.46, 7.1.9 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Buffer Overflow due to improper handling of zero mappings in the page_table_check_set and page_table_check_clear processes. An attacker can cause a system crash or denial of service by populating a large number of zero mappings, which overflows internal counters and triggers a kernel panic.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
