CVE-2026-74403  (opens in a new tab)
CWE-476  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade torvalds/linux to version 7.1.5 or higher.

Overview

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to NULL Pointer Dereference in the sev_tio_init_locked process due to improper handling of page allocation failures. An attacker can cause kernel memory disclosure, memory corruption, or system crash by exhausting host memory to force a NULL return from __snp_alloc_firmware_pages, leading to dereferencing an invalid pointer during SNP-TIO initialization. This is only exploitable if the attacker has CAP_SYS_ADMIN privileges (obtainable by an unprivileged user inside a user namespace) and can trigger first-time SNP initialization via KVM ioctls or during boot-time SNP initialization.

Note: The Linux kernel project assigns a CVE to every bug fix it ships, whether or not the bug has been shown to be exploitable. This advisory was generated from that process and has not been individually assessed for exploitability. See the kernel's CVE process documentation: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/cve.rst
